Sonia Terra earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Jose State University. She also spent a year at the University of Madrid, Spain to complete a minor in Spanish.
Ms. Terra has actively worked in school-based counseling services and community-based services in private practice and clinic settings since 2002. She graduated from the Child Trauma Institute in 2008, where she engaged in extensive training to work with children aged 0 – 5 who have experienced trauma.
Much of Ms. Terra’s career has involved working with young children and Spanish-speaking families in community-based settings. Her experience also includes working with children and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioral struggles at school, trauma-related symptoms and those struggling with social skills. She brings to her clients a safe space to explore and develop their inner strengths, spirituality and unique self-identity.
She also enjoys spending time with her teenaged children and being at the beach as often as possible.
