Ms. Montenegro holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Texas Woman’s University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lubbock Christian University. She works under the supervision of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Michele Lei Caban (38244).
Ms. Montenegro specializes in spiritual abuse, LGBTQ therapy and trauma. As part of a private practice for two years, she saw clients with a variety of issues including spiritual trauma, LGBTQ issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, PTSD, gang involvement and incarceration. Ms. Montenegro believes that each person has unique needs and she likes to collaboratively formulate a treatment plan using a variety of different methodologies, including psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, internal family systems and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
She recognizes that inclusivity and intersectionality are essential for healing and growth. Ms. Montenegro considers her job to be a student of her clients, equipping them with the tools and strategies needed to achieve their goals and overcome life’s challenges. Her goal is to help clients create their best possible lives.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, in 2015 she and her partner moved to San Jose, which she absolutely loves! When not performing her therapeutic role, Ms. Montenegro enjoys anything involving sci-fi and fantasy, video games, reading, art, skateboarding, cooking, as well as being active and supporting her family’s non-profit in Guatemala.
