Diya Sen

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (115502) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (6921)

Ms. Sen earned a Master’s degree in Counseling, with emphasis on marriage, family and child therapy. Her experience encompasses working with a wide variety of individuals, couples and families. She works under the supervision of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Michele Lei Caban (38244).

Ms. Sen offers a safe, supportive and collaborative environment in which she is compassionate and always present to help her clients understand, explore, process and resolve problematic relationships, emotions and negative behavioral patterns. She believes that every individual is different, no two relationships are the same, and everyone’s experiences and how we are wired are unique. As a result, her approach to therapy is multifarious and uses a balanced blend of attachment-based and systemic approaches.

Ms. Sen works through a lens of diverse approaches — EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Polyvagal theory, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Narrative Therapy and mindfulness-based practices. She offers every individual, couple or family a unique space within their working relationship with her.

She has lived in two different countries, widely traveled the world, and is grateful to belong to a family and circles of friends and acquaintances with diverse cultural awareness and belonging. Ms. Sen was trained in Indian Classical dance, and she taught and performed all over the world for 13 years. She also dedicates time to volunteering at animal shelters. Hence, she is culturally aware and sensitive, and comfortably accepting of all.

Ms. Sen understands that the first step in asking for help is the most difficult, and she believes that each person needs to be provided with a safe space to talk, vent, express, retrospect, process and explore. She is committed to working collaboratively with her clients to unravel life challenges through the unfolding of the therapeutic process.
